Wesley D. Millican

Wesley D. Millican, MBA, is the Founder and President of MillicanSolutions, LLC, an AMN Healthcare Company and physician executive search partner of Merritt Hawkins and the Advisory Council. He has more than 20 years of experience in complex retained executive search execution and leadership consulting in healthcare. For fifteen years he has focused his search expertise on the physician and executive leadership needs of the Nation’s Academic Medical Centers, Departments of Pediatrics and Children’s Hospitals. Millican is also Founder and CEO of CareerPhysician Advisors, a provider of comprehensive career and business education resources to residency and fellowship training programs.

Formerly, Millican served as Principal at Ray & Berndtson; Vice President of Physician Services at Physician Reliance Network, now U.S. Oncology; Director of Physician Recruitment, Retention and Cultural Development at Baylor Health Care System of Dallas; and Vice President and Marketing Director at the Horizon Group, a health-care recruitment and consulting firm.

Recognized as an authority on the development, recruitment and retention of pediatric physician leadership, Millican devotes significant time to strategic planning, process innovation and leading complex academic search initiatives in the AMC sector. Additionally and in continuing his commitment to physician talent as the “future of medicine”, Millican speaks regularly at the Nation’s top residency and fellowship programs on career and business of medicine topics. Millican holds an MBA degree from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University and received BBA degrees in both Marketing and Management from Texas A&M University. He has been the recipient of the National Institute for Physician Recruitment’s National Honors for Comprehensive Campaign Plans and Strategies and ACMS’s Physician Relations Executive of the Year award. Recognized as a recruiting industry expert, Millican has been published in the Wall Street Journal and was a contributor to Get Paid What You’re Worth, a book by Robin L. Pinkley, focusing on compensation and salary negotiations.

Millican serves on the Executive Committee of the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship, a subsidiary of the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, the Executive Board of the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, and the Board of the Institute for Congregational & Clergy Effectiveness, a subsidiary of the Texas Methodist Foundation.


Travis Singleton - Senior Vice President

Mr. Singleton has over 15 years of health care consulting experience and is a nationally acknowledged health care staffing leader. Mr. Singleton serves as Senior Vice President for Merritt Hawkins, the nation’s leading physician & allied health search and consulting firm. Merritt Hawkins is a division of AMN Healthcare (NYSE:AMN), the largest health care staffing organization in the United States. AMN Healthcare employs some 2,000 people in eighty international and regional offices.

Mr. Singleton continues to be actively involved in the daily management of Merritt Hawkins, overseeing strategic marketing operations and maintaining corporate level industry contacts.

Mr. Singleton is widely recognized for his expertise in a broad range of staffing issues, from physician & allied health compensation to medical staff planning. Mr. Singleton has consulted with thousands of hospitals and medical groups regarding physician & allied health needs assessment, population health management, demographic & healthcare trends, compensation, contracts, retention, physician-hospital relations, compliance and numerous other related issues. Mr. Singleton has overseen thousands of permanent physician and allied health search assignments nationwide.

Mr. Singleton serves on the board of The Health Industry Council of North Texas and is a professional development partner of the Texas Healthcare Trustees. He is the Co-Chair of the annual Interprofessional Practice Symposium held at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and sponsored by The Health Industry Council of North Texas, Texas Christian University Harris College of Nursing, Texas Women’s University and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

In 2015, Mr. Singleton was invited to submit expert testimony to Subcommittees of the Congress of the United States regarding the ability of Department of Veterans Affairs facilities to recruit and retained qualified healthcare professionals. Also in 2015, Mr. Singleton was named to the Dallas Business Journal’s Who’s Who in Healthcare List.

A member of The Physicians Foundation Advisory Panel of healthcare experts and frequent expert panelist, Mr. Singleton is a frequently requested speaker who has addressed a wide range of health care professional groups throughout the United States, including various state hospital associations, the American Academy of Family Physicians and many others.

Mr. Singleton also serves on the board of Charlemagne University Limited, an international medical school to be located on the island of Saint Lucia, providing expertise and insight into the physician employment and recruiting market for prospective graduates.

Jennifer L. Schaulin - Vice President

Jennifer L. Schaulin serves as Vice President with MillicanSolutions, LLC., an executive search and consulting firm focused on strategic leadership initiatives for Academic Medical Centers and children’s hospitals nationally. Jennifer is responsible for managing the search execution process. She has spent over 15 years in retained executive search and was formerly a Director with A.T. Kearney Executive Search and a Principal with Ray & Berndtson in the consumer products and services practices located in Fort Worth, Texas. She has been responsible for executing search assignments for senior level executives across a broad range of functions in consumer products, medical products and technology companies.

Prior to her executive search experience, Jennifer had an eight year career in medical capital equipment sales in both the radiology and cardiology market places. She spent three years as an advanced diagnostic sales specialist for intravascular ultrasound in the West Region for Cordis Corporation, a Johnson & Johnson Company and five years as an account manager for GE Medical Systems in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to her sales success, Jennifer served as the sales and service team facilitator and was involved in corporate training, customer training and mentoring of peers. Jennifer earned a B.S. in general engineering with a secondary field of study in marketing from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign.


Marcel Barbey - Vice President

Marcel Barbey serves as Vice President with MillicanSolutions, LLC., an executive search and consulting firm focused on strategic leadership initiatives for children’s hospitals nationally. Marcel is responsible for managing the search execution process. Prior to joining MillicanSolutions, he was a Principal with The Medicus Firm, based in Dallas, and primarily worked with clients in the Northeast. Prior to joining Medicus in 2005, he was with Merritt Hawkins & Associates where he trained and directed a team of search consultants that completed searches throughout the Midwest Region. Marcel has been recruiting physicians and providing healthcare staffing consultative services since 1999. His areas of expertise include medical staff needs, analysis, contract negotiation, establishing strong partnerships with physician candidates and clients and an unparalleled customer centric focus.

Prior to starting his career in healthcare consulting and recruiting, Marcel worked in the hospitality and hotel management field. Marcel earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Alberta.
