A Holiday Thank You
December 17, 2018
This is the time of year when people take stock and reflect
on who and what is most important to them.
With all that is going on in the world it is easy to lose
sight of what matters most, and certainly among the things that truly count is
our own health and the health of our loved ones.
That’s why this is a particularly appropriate season to
thank the people who provide the healthcare that at one time or another virtually
every one of us needs. This includes the over 800,000 active physicians in the
U.S., the millions of nurses, advanced practice professionals, pharmacists,
therapists, technicians and other health care professionals, as well as the
dedicated people who manage the nation’s hospitals, medical groups, Federally
Qualified Health Centers (FCHCs) and other healthcare facilities.
Each year, physicians alone handle over one billion patient
encounters, or over three doctor visits on average per person. The nation’s
5,500-plus hospitals admit over 35 million patients, while FQHCs see over 27
million and other sites of service, such as urgent care centers, see millions
more. During the course of these visits, millions of lives are saved or
enhanced in ways that were impossible only a few years ago.
It’s a pleasure and a privilege to partner with healthcare
providers and the other professionals who make such a profound difference in
the lives of millions of Americans. Since Merritt Hawkins began in the fall of
1987, we have been fortunate to place thousands of physicians who have cared
for millions of patients in hospitals, medical groups, FQHCs, urgent care
centers and other settings nationwide. We are grateful to have been entrusted
with this important task and to have had some part in enhancing the personal
and professional lives of the candidates we place and in bringing needed skills
and services to the clients with whom we work.
On behalf of everyone at Merritt Hawkins, a heartfelt
holiday thank you to all the health care professionals with whom we have
partnered and to everyone who provides the care and compassion upon which so
many people depend.
