Merritt Hawkins' Department of Academics is representing Upstate Medical University, a well-regarded medical university in Syracuse New York, for the recruitment of an additional Transplant Nephrologist.  They have developed a strong transplant program that can continue to grow with the right faculty.  We will offer a very attractive base salary (depending on academic rank) and fantastic state employee benefits.   Some highlights of the transplant program:
  • Currently around 100 kidney transplants per year - continuing to grow rapidly
  • Started pancreas transplant two years ago (over 12 per year currently and growing)
  • Beginning stages of anologous islet cell transplant program (only such program in upstate New York)
  • Over 40 new patients seeking evaluation each month
  • Academic mission - ability to teach/train residents, medical students, and nephrology fellows 
  • Research available - funds available to help with research projects
