UC Irvine - Seeking a Prelicensure Program Director

The University of California, Irvine (UCI) Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing seeks applications for a Prelicensure Program Director. Candidates must meet the academic and scholarly credentials for the Health Sciences Clinical faculty series or tenured Professor series. The Prelicensure Program Director is a member of the Senior Leadership team, works collaboratively with the Associate Deans and is responsible for the overall administration of the Bachelor of Science and Master’s Entry Program in Nursing programs. Applicants must have demonstrated leadership experience in an academic setting. Doctorate (DNP or PhD) in nursing preferred. 

Major Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Academic Programs to develop academic programs and curricula based on new models for course and clinical delivery.
  • Assists with the development of interprofessional education (IPE) opportunities at the School and College of Health Sciences.
  • Ensures that the programs comply with requirements of the BRN and updates program policies, procedures, and standards accordingly. Monitors regulations and standards governing professional nursing education and higher education to ensure compliance.
  • Mentors faculty to ensure performance related to teaching, student advisement and service meet school benchmarks.
  • Assesses the instructional needs of students in the program, including students at risk for poor performance, and oversees student contracts.
  • Leads BS and MEPN Admissions committee
  • Oversees the coordination of the  Accreditation and other Academic Reports
  • Collaborates with the Associate Deans in setting standards and procedures for faculty training in the pedagogical area.
  • Maintains communication and works cooperatively with clinical instructors.

In 2016, the William and Sue Gross Family Foundation donated $40 million to establish a school of nursing, which was formally approved in 2017, making it the newest nursing school in the prestigious University of California system. In early 2017, the University of California, Irvine received the largest gift in its history, a $200 million donation from Susan and Henry Samueli to name the first of its kind Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, which will position UCI as a new leader in population health, patient care, education and research. The school of nursing will be one of four academic units in the College of Health Sciences, including the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy and Population Health, creating many opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
