On behalf of the Cook Children's Health Care System (CCHCS) located in Ft. Worth, TX, MillicanSolutions, LLC, an AMN Healthcare Company and a leader in pediatric sub-specialty search, is pleased to inform you of the inception of a national search for a Senior Medical Director as well as an additional Metabolic Geneticist.

Cook Children’s Medical Center is a freestanding 457-bed quaternary care pediatric hospital that is consistently ranked by US News and World Report.  CCHCS is a not-for-profit nationally recognized pediatric health care organization comprised of seven entities – a Medical Center, Physician Network, Home Health company, Northeast Hospital, Pediatric Surgery Center, Health Plan and Health Foundation. The integrated system has more than 60 primary and specialty care offices throughout North Texas, serving a 23-country referral. The Cook Children's Physician Network is the largest pediatric multi-specialty physician group in North Texas with nearly 300 specialty and primary care associates.  

Transformational Leadership Position Highlights:
  • Seek a leader with prior administrative experience, proven skills in clinical care and clinical network development, written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, operational effectiveness, track record in working with teams, focus on quality and safety.
  • The Senior Medical Director will work closely with the Director of Clinical Genetics and the Director of Metabolism to lead a strategic design and implementation initiative that move the health system and its metabolic, genomics, and precision medicine programs into the future.
  • Overseeing a Department of Genetics currently staffed by 7 clinical geneticists, 2 metabolic geneticists, 2 board-certified genetic counselors, 5 case managers, 2 metabolic dietitians, and 2 metabolic nurses.
  • Opportunities available to pursue clinical research with support including campus IRB, grant writing, research nurses, a dedicated PhD statistician, as well as the teaching of medical students.
  • Broad pediatric sub-specialty platform with 35 Departments represented and 40 outpatient primary care clinics in the Cook Children’s network provides partnership opportunities for genetic program development in other specialty areas.

Metabolic Staff Geneticist Opportunity
  • Focus on the clinical care of individuals with common and rare inborn errors of metabolism.
  • Close involvement with the Texas newborn screening program.
  • Research and teaching interests can be supported, if desired.
  • The successful candidate should have completed a clinical genetics residency and a fellowship in either clinical biochemical genetics or medical biochemical genetics.
