City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California is seeking an exceptional academic leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Medicine. Founded in 1913, City of Hope is a non-profit NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center focused on cutting edge treatment of patients with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Home to one of five Beckman Research Institutes, the City of Hope campus is also a center of robust clinical, translational, and basic science research programs.
The Department of Medicine is a unique Department consisting of specialists in cardiology, pulmonary/critical care, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, hospital medicine, rheumatology, and neurology. The faculty provide a robust consultative service to the patients at City of Hope and the Department prides itself on its commitment to excellence in comprehensive patient care.
As an international referral center for complex patients, the clinical research opportunities at City of Hope are vast. We are seeking a chair who has strong interest in leveraging those research opportunities to create a robust clinical research program in the context of the aforementioned disciplines and in strong collaboration with the other clinical departments on the City of Hope campus. The incoming chair will enjoy state of the art clinical and research facilities along with ample resources to develop a world class clinical research program that aligns to mission of the City of Hope.
The successful candidate will be able to prioritize, grow, and support the current excellence in patient care and will also develop clinical research opportunities for existing faculty as well as identify additional recruits to help grow the scholarly activities of the department. We are seeking applicants who are board certified in one of the aforementioned disciplines and are eligible for the Associate Professor or Professor rank and who have a demonstrated track record of leadership, program development, strong clinical reputation, and scholarly excellence. Candidates with a strong interest in clinical research will be given high consideration.
