On behalf of University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (UH/RBC) and the University Hospitals (UH) system, MillicanSolutions, LLC, a leader in academic pediatric executive search, has initiated a national search to identify candidates to serve as Division Chief of General Academic Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.  The organizations are seeking a physician leader capable of establishing and implementing a vision that encompasses the mission values of UH/RBC: To Heal, To Teach, To Discover.  Taking into consideration the strategic imperative UH has placed on pediatrics, the organization’s commitment to meaningful resources, and the respected history of UH/RBC, we believe this leadership role to be one of the top positions available nationally.

Transformational Leadership Position Highlights:
  • The Division Chief will have the goal of advancing the field of General Academic Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine through patient care, practice innovation, research, education, community outreach, and advocacy.
  • Improve faculty and staff engagement through attention to diversity recruitment, retention, career development, personal leadership development, and effective communication.
  • UH Rainbow Center for Women & Children: Practice based at new, 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art center where health care services offered includes general pediatrics and adolescent medicine, outpatient pregnancy care, and general OB/GYN.  Additional key services provided are pediatric dentistry, optometry, community services, childbirth, and parenting classes, breastfeeding support, integrated mental/behavioral health services, nutrition education and classes, WIC, and ambulatory pharmacy. The Rainbow Center serves as the continuity clinic location for RBC’s pediatric residents.
  • Key strategic priorities include but not limited to advocacy and health equity, resident education, general pediatric medicine, adolescent medicine, and research.  
  • Oversight and growth of Divisional research focused on analyses, research, and education on child health policy and health services issues, with internal, external and philanthropic supports.
  • The successful MD/DO or MD/DO/Ph.D. candidate with a sustained record of leadership accomplishment, operational expertise, and scholarly activity will be qualified to be appointed at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and will be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the state of Ohio.
  • RBC is a 244-bed renowned children’s hospital and a principal referral center for Ohio and the region.
Additionally, we are pleased to announce that Marlene R. Miller, MD, MSc, has been appointed Pediatrician-in-Chief for University Hospitals and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Dr. Miller comes from the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, where she served as Vice Chair of Quality and Safety since 2003, and as Chief Quality Officer, Pediatrics, for the health system since 2014. Dr. Miller is looking forward to working closely with and supporting the incoming Division Chief.
