In partnership with the University of Michigan, Merritt Hawkins is excited to announce the inaugural role of Executive Medical Director of Home Care Services. We are seeking an experienced, board certified physician of any specialty from either an academic or non-academic background. The successful candidate will have progressive leadership experience in some aspect of home health services and detailed knowledge of the unique regulatory and payer requirements associated with the Certified Home Care Nursing, Home Infusion and/or Durable Medical Equipment industries.

Founded over 20 years ago, Michigan Medicine’s Home Care Services division has become the leading supplier of home health related services throughout Ann Arbor, MI and the surrounding region. The Home Care Services division is made up of 4 business units which employ roughly 400 FTE’s and generate over $195 million in annual revenue.
The 4 Home Care Services business units are:
- Home Infusion (Home Med) - home infusion, nutrition, and specialty drug administration
- Michigan Visiting Nurses/Michigan Visiting Care - Accredited Home Nursing agency and Private Duty agency. Also home to several innovative home nursing programs for targeted patient populations.
- Durable Medical (MedEquip) - diversified supplier of medical equipment with over 40 categories of products
- Wheelchair Seating Service - customized mobility and seating systems for the disabled
The Executive Medical Director role is a 50% appointment within the University of Michigan Medical Group (UMMG). The remaining 50% of this person’s time will be spent in patient care activities at a practice location suiting their specialty and interests. Opportunities exist to participate in medical student and/or resident education as well as clinical research at the interest of the candidate.
Administratively the Executive Medical Director will partner with the Associate Chief Operating Officer of Home Care Services in strategic development and management of all current and future Home Care Services business units. Clinical efforts will be supervised, managed and negotiated by the clinical department to which they are appointed. Academic appointment/rank will be commensurate with prior experience.
